From the humble beginnings of a community of shipbuilders and shell gatherers, the Empire Bay Public School now serves Kindergarten through year-6 children. The school is a healthy, vibrant centre of learning, and an important part of our community.

With the opening of the Rip bridge in 1974, enrolment increased significantly. Today, our school enjoys an enrolment of over 450 pupils and 35 staff. Empire Bay also offers a choice of excellent pre-school and early childhood education, while feeding into a number of secondary schools. [>>]

In addition to fire risk mitigation and control, our local Rural Fire Brigade helps the community with rescue operations, storm/weather damage, inter-agency co-ordination, motor vehicle accidents, education and much, much more. [>>]

With a boutique shopping centre, including Empire's D'lite serving award winning coffee, a homewares and fashion store, hairdresser, barber, real estate agent, dentist, liquor outlet plus dozens of local trades professionals, Empire Bay is open for business. [>>]

The Empire Bay War Memorial bears the names of local men and women who lost their lives during the World Wars. Centrally located within a roundabout near the Empire Bay shops, ferry wharf and boat ramp, it takes pride of place in the Bay. The gardens, plinths and honour rolls are lovingly maintained by local volunteers.

Every morning and evening the flag is raised and lowered as a sign of remembrance. [>>]

Located next to the tennis courts, our fabulous play park creates an engaging hub for kids, parents and the whole community to come together to play, socialise and engage in recreational activities. Designed for children and youth alike, everyone can enjoy outdoor fitness equipment, a pump track, bouldering climbing unit, water refill station plus sheltered seating, tables and BBQ area. [>>]

In 1923, a few enthusiasts cleared the ground on Shelley Beach Road and made a tennis court from a mixture of loam and - very likely - ants nest material. Today, with three tennis courts and night-lighting alongside the play park, our forebears would be amazed and overjoyed if they could see it now.

The Empire Bay Tennis Club offers social court hire (singles and doubles), social and competitive tennis, plus coaching. [>>]

The easiest way to experience the fantastic waterways around Empire Bay! Regular ferry services operate between Woy Woy and Empire Bay (via Saratoga and Davistown). These 30min runs operate several times per day, and journey times might be longer on weekends and holidays. History cruises, lunch cruises and private hire is also available. [>>]

Being social has never been easier in Empire Bay for our retired members of the community. There are many groups where our seniors find friendship and have fun through social interaction and activities. Probus branches across the state organise travel for seniors and others for a fee to cover insurance, and provide discounts for accommodation and tour facilities.
