Residents of Empire Bay and surrounding areas are invited to attend.
The Empire Bay Progress Association is in the final planning stage of this years’ service. For anyone who requires reserve seating, or who would like a wreath put aside for them please email Robert Thompson, or call 0408 415 765.
Each year the Empire Bay Progress Association organises an Anzac Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Empire Bay Cenotaph at 11am. Everyone is welcome to attend the event.
Anzac Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during WW1.
We acknowledge the extraordinary bravery of Australian service men and women who fought in the war to preserve the freedom we now enjoy. We also remember those who came home with mental and physical pain.
The Service includes a flag and wreath laying ceremony as well as several speeches, bugle and singing the National Anthem. Federal, state and local government local representatives attend, along with children from Empire Bay Public School and the Coast Christian College who join the Rural Fire Brigade in the march to the Cenotaph.
In 2022 the National Service 1951-72 Re Enactment Unit participated in the event and the RAAF flyover concluded the ceremony.
After the service a BBQ is organised by the Fishing Club with all proceeds donated to the Vietnam Vets in Ettalong. The service has been a tradition in Empire Bay for over 20 years.
